Louisiana Department of Education release new guidelines for artificial intelligence in schools [Video]

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Louisiana schools will soon embrace artificial intelligence in the classrooms.

The Louisiana Department of Education provided new artificial intelligence guidelines for K-12 school systems. LDOE said this will help schools kick-start the implementation of AI in classrooms.

“Guidelines truly outline some of the guardrails that we felt were truly important for teachers, educators, for schools really to be implementing and integrating artificial intelligence in education,” said Adam DiBenedetto, Louisiana Department of Education, Director of Academic Innovation.

DiBenedetto said the guidelines include cyber security, fairness, student learning, transparency and professional development.

“There’s certainly a balance and I think that if we look at our guidance, it gives schools a starting point, from creating processes and procedures that they will follow in their school system that effectively addresses the needs of their students,” said DiBenedetto.
