Police officers don’t always need fast cars to catch criminals.
A Lone Tree police officer helped catch a suspect using a children’s bike through a display of quick-thinking skills last weekend, according to a press release from the City of Lone Tree.
Lone Tree Police Department Officer Jacob Tarr was attempting to apprehend a suspect who allegedly had just committed felony theft on Nov. 23 around 4:30 p.m., when the suspect took off running, according to the press release.
Tarr gave chase on foot before the suspect jumped multiple fences and snagged a nearby kid’s motorized scooter. The suspect could then be seen fleeing down a neighborhood street on the scooter, according to the security camera footage.
The officer did not give up, though, commandeering a child’s bicycle and taking off down the street, asking neighbors if they had seen a man passing on a scooter.
