TULSA, Okla. — Breakthrough T1D North Texas and Oklahoma, formerly known as JDRF, hosted the Breakthrough T1D Walk at Hunter Park in Tulsa on Sunday.
The annual event brings hundreds of individuals who share Breakthrough T1D’s vision of a world without Type I Diabetes (T1D).
Over 1.4 million Americans live with T1D, an autoimmune disease that causes the pancreas to produce little to insulin.
“The Tulsa Breakthrough T1D Walk is an important opportunity for our community to come together to raise both funds and awareness for Type I Diabetes,” said Amy Camp, Executive Director of Breakthrough T1D. “We are committed to improving the daily lives of people living with T1D. Through this event and the funds we raise we are building momentum, taking action for our community, and advancing breakthroughs on our way to a cure.”
