Local nonprofit 1 of 12 awarded funding to help with homelessness in Alabama [Video]

MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — A local nonprofit is getting some help to provide housing and other services to people facing homelessness through Emergency Solutions Grants program funding.

The Office of Gov. Kay Ivey shared in a news release that the Salvation Army was the nonprofit awarded funding in the News 5 coverage area.

The nonprofit was one of 12 municipalities or non-profit agencies within Alabama to be awarded a portion of the $2.6 million in funding. In total, the Salvation Army received $350,000 in funding that will be used to provide emergency shelter for homeless families in Baldwin, Mobile and Washington counties.
