Brazos County law enforcement agencies recently participated in the Beard It Up and Color for the Cure campaigns.
The Texas A&M University Police Department, Bryan Police Department, Brazos County Sheriff’s Office, and the College Station Police Department participated in the campaigns from Nov. 1 to Jan. 8, for The Cure Starts Now–Central Texas to raise money for childhood cancer. They raised $7,586, according to a press release. The local law enforcement agencies were the first to join the campaign.
Since 2018, over 117 law enforcement agencies in 24 states have raised over $828,000, according to a press release. On Nov. 1, male officers could donate money to grow a beard or goatee. Female officers could donate money to paint their nails to display a color that coincides with a cancer that has affected them or someone they know.
