WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Hundreds of school kids have some new shoes to wear.
A group called Samaritan’s Feet International stopped by Wrightsboro Elementary School to give out 650 pairs of athletic shoes.
That’s enough for each student in the school.
The event is a collaboration with Truist Bank, which includes a lesson about money in the classroom.
Michelle Faison, principal of Wrightsboro Elementary School, says the lesson will help students learn the importance of money.
“They are going to be discussing with the kids you know what they know about money. . . and what we use money to purchase, what are things like maybe wants you know what are our wants and what are our needs, what do we have to have and what do we want to have and why money is important and why it’s important to save,” said Faison.
