Local basketball tournament hopes love of the game helps put an end to violence [Video]

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Local lovers of basketball gathered at a Kansas City community center over the weekend to play in the name of stopping violence.

The Black Archives of Mid-America in Kansas City hosted its second annual Stop the Violence Basketball Tournament from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 27. Those who registered at the Black Archives building at 1722 E. 17th Terr. were also able to grab a bite to eat and register to vote before they were given a gift.

The tournament, which was held at the Gregg-Klice Community Center at 1600 E. 17th St. consisted of 16 teams of players from middle school age to young adults. All who competed were from around the greater Kansas City area.
