The hack of PowerSchool’s Student Information System (SIS) platform occurred in December and reportedly compromised data including names and addresses, Social Security numbers, and some medical and education information. One school in Utah said it extended all the way to students’ lunch balances and locker numbers/lock combinations.
The company offers a wide array of other school management software options, but says the hack was isolated to the SIS platform. Numerous Georgia districts use other PowerSchool platforms but not SIS — however, according to the GDOE map, there are 60 that do.
It’s unclear how each district among the 60 may or may not have been impacted. 11Alive has reached out to those in metro Atlanta and north Georgia that appear in the state listings.
