Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) was not pleased with the performance turned in by former President Donald Trump against Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday night.
For nearly two hours in Philadelphia, Trump and Harris traded barbs while explaining their visions for the country. Harris repeatedly baited the former president “successfully,” according to Brit Hume of Fox News. In one memorable exchange, Harris told Trump he “got fired by 81 million people” and is “having a difficult time processing that.”
At one point, Trump repeated a baseless rumor propagated by right-wing social media accounts claiming Haitian migrants in Ohio are abducting pets and eating them.
“In Springfield, they’re eating the dogs,” he claimed. “The people that came in, they’re eating the cats. They’re eating the pets of the people that live there.”
After the debate, Tim Miller of The Bulwark caught up with Graham, who offered his assessment.
