Lincoln advocates, emergency agencies complete training to improve support for domestic violence victims [Video]

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Advocates and emergency agencies recently completed two-day training in Lincoln to improve the way they help victims of domestic violence.

On Monday and Tuesday, law enforcement officers and community members learned about ways to improve the efficacy of their collaboration in a way that respects survivors.

This marked the first training for multiple organizations under one roof and was coordinated by BraveBe Child Advocacy Center.

“Every organization is really speaking from their lens of expertise and that’s helpful for all of us to have an understanding of the touch points that victims and survivors navigate on their way to safety,” said Leah Droge, Friendship Home of Lincoln.

One in three women and one in four men will experience some form of domestic violence in their lifetime.

In 2023, Lincoln saw over 1,400 of those assaults with over 600 arrests made.
