Lexington Senior High students let out early because of heat [Video]

Students were released at 12 p.m. on Friday.

LEXINGTON, N.C. — Lexington Senior High School released students early Friday because of excessive heat in classrooms, according to a Facebook post by the school.

Students were dismissed at 12 p.m. after spending the final 20 minutes of the day on an adjusted schedule. Temperatures have been in the 80s in Lexington throughout the day, but feel like temperatures have hovered around 90 degrees and above.

Lexington Senior High isn’t the only school reportedly struggling with heat-related issues. On Thursday, Guilford County Schools Director of Media Relations Gabby Brown sent WFMY News 2 the following statement after we enquired about possible air conditioning issues at a local school:
