Letter to the editor: Embrace our schools [Video]

Our community is fortunate to have dedicated teachers and staff educating our children, including Dr. Crystal Edwards as the Lynchburg City School superintendent.

A few of Dr. Edwards accomplishments include leading the schools through the challenges of the COVID 19 pandemic, the promotion of dual enrollment programs, the development of career technology program in conjunction with the Governor Youngkin’s lab school initiative and working with LCS teachers and staff to receive state accreditation for all of our schools.

As a former LCS Board member, I can testify to the long hours Dr. Edwards spends making herself available to students and families. During my tenure, there were tragic situations where the lives of students were lost due to community violence. Dr. Edwards was always intimately involved with her staff to provide physical and emotional support to the families impacted by those tragic events.
