A Kansas City-area teacher has just been charged with two federal counts relating to child pornography, according to a news release from the U.S. Department of Justice. Seth Brummond, 37, a Greenwood, Missouri, resident and teacher at Lee’s Summit West High School, has been charged with one count of distributing child pornography over the internet and one count of possessing child pornography from Sept. 1 to Dec. 18 of this year. An affidavit in this case shows Lee’s Summit Police received a cyber tip on Sept. 8 that someone, later identified as Brummond, had uploaded 12 videos containing child pornography via the Kik Messenger app. On Thursday, Lee’s Summit police began surveillance of Brummond’s home for the purpose of serving federal search warrants related to this case.Officers followed Brummond as he left his home around 6 a.m. and conducted a traffic stop before placing Brummond under arrest.
