LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A local non-profit is working to combat gun violence by collaborating with community members to create safer environments for the youth.
The Lansing Empowerment Network hosted its first-ever in-person 360 Prevention Collaborative meeting on Wednesday afternoon.
The organization’s main goal is to reduce and prevent gun violence in the Lansing area.
Mike Lynn, president of the Lansing Empowerment Network says they’ve been meeting with different organizations involving youth outreach and mentorships for more than a year.
Now, they’ve finally started their in-person meetings.
He says they’ve kept track of data involving gun-related incidents in Lansing to keep the community protected.
“On a positive note, were down by 8% in our non-fatal shootings. Our closure rates are climbing up a little bit. I think we’re at an 80% closure rate right now for homicides,” said Lynn. “So, those are all the numbers were kinda tracking to make sure we’re on the right path for …
