Lancaster County hosting event observing National Preparedness Month [Video]

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — Lancaster County is hosting an event to observe National Preparedness Month this weekend.

The goal of the month is to remind folks that preparing for emergencies and disasters can keep them, their families, and communities safe. Lancaster County’s theme this year is personal preparedness.

“Preparedness starts in the home and then builds out from there,” said Brian Pasquale, the Director of Public Safety in Lancaster County. “Having simple things such as an emergency kit in your car, having a stockpile of medications in case of a storm and a power outage all end as well as a contact list is very, very important to keeping the family safe.”

The Prepare Lancaster event is happening this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Farm and Home Center on Arcadia Road. The event will showcase first responder vehicles, personal preparedness education, and emergency kit supplies.
