SANDUSKY Co., Ohio (WTVG) – Three students were sentenced to juvenile detention for their roles in an assault on a 13-year-old in a locker room.

The incident happened in January at Lakota Middle School.

Two junior high students at Lakota Local Schools will spend 10 days in the Wood County juvenile detention center for holding a student down while another student assaulted the victim.

Magistrate Mollie Hojinicki Mathieson told the teens they were to have no contact with the victim.

They also must perform 24 hours of community service and have a mental health assessment.

“The offenders have lived their life like nothing happened, playing sports, going to school extracurriculars, and my grandson is faced with emotional trauma. He had to change schools. His whole life changed, and now he got some justice today,” the victim’s grandmother Kelly Stevens said.

The other young defendant in the case faced a judge last month and was given 30 days in detention.
