As a Castaic landfill inches closer to installing a cover over portion of the facility to address foul odors, Los Angeles County officials Friday announced they intend to launch an online survey to assess its effectiveness.
Waste Connections, the operator of the Chiquita Canyon Landfill, is expected to install a “geomembrane cover” early next month as part of a solution to mitigate noxious odors that has plagued nearby residents for more than a year.
In response, the L.A. County Department of Public Health will administer a health survey, called Community Experiences: Survey on Odors and Health Impacts near the Chiquita Canyon Landfill Incident. The survey will be available online in English and Spanish, starting Monday at 6 p.m. at the following websites:
— cclresponse.com;
— publichealth.lacounty.gov; and
— Odor Incident – LA County Planning.
