LFA 189 took place on Friday, August 2, with the card a little light following Thursday’s official weigh in.
That’s because Marco Hutch weighed in at 195.8lbs for his middleweight fight with Jake Woodley, 9.8 pounds heavy. For his part, Woodley made weight at 185.6, and given the massive discrepency, the fight was cancelled.
The main event featured a familiar face in former Bellator flyweight Bruna Ellen, who was looking to claim strawweight gold against champ Natasha Kuziutina. Brazil’s Ellen was coming off a win at Bellator 295 last year over Ilara Joanne, but while Joanne joined the PFL season following their acquisition of Bellator MMA, Ellen did not.
The pair had originally been scheduled to compete in June, only for Kuziutina to withdraw due to illness.
