KRT offers two new proposals on bus route changes [Video]

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Changes have been on the mind of many, after KRT announced during public hearings a proposal that would cut 11 permanent bus routes in Kanawha County, and replace them with an on demand transit service called KRT PLUS, which provides various modes of transportation through a free to use mobile app.

This is all being done to reduce the more than $1.3 million deficit KRT says they are currently operating under.

That proposal was met with friction from the public.

“During those public hearings, we proposed one option, and it was pretty extreme, and we knew it was. It was based on data, it didn’t necessarily take the human element into account, and that’s what we got a lot of, we got 400 different responses,” KRT Executive Director Sean Hill said.

On Thursday, KRT offered two new proposals.

Option two would not permanently cut any of the bus routes, but instead would eliminate Sunday service, and operate half the weekday …
