Kilgore College surgical tech program gets accredited [Video]

KILGORE, Texas (KETK) – Kilgore College’s surgical technology program was officially accredited last week.

Kilgore College names ‘first of its kind’ health science education center

Previously, the surgical tech program was closed for five years, but reopened in 2023 due to increased demand at local healthcare facilities.

When they reopened, they then had to reapply to accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs in collaboration with the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.

Kilgore College receives $215,000 grant to support CTE programs

Surgical techs work alongside doctors and nurses in the operating room, preparing patients and operating rooms for surgery and serving as an extra set of hands for surgical procedures. At Kilgore College, it is a 2-year program that trains students to facilitate safe, effective care in surgical procedures.
