Kiewit Luminarium seeking new CEO after resignation of Silva Raker [Video]

The woman who led the Kiewit Luminarium into its existence has stepped down from her job as chief executive officer of the Omaha science museum.

Silva Raker started her job in August of 2021 after serving as senior business director of global collaborations for the Exploratorium in San Francisco. The Luminarium opened its doors in April of 2023.

“In her three years as the Luminarium’s inaugural CEO, Silva brought extensive experience, vision, and energy to help develop and launch an exceptional science center in Omaha for the greater region,” the museum said in a statement on Monday. “We are grateful for all that has been accomplished under Silva’s leadership, and wish her the best.”

Linda Brandl, retired vice president of Marketing and Sales Operations at Union Pacific, has stepped into the interim CEO role while the Kiewit Luminarium board of directors conducts a formal search for this full-time leadership role.
