Children had the opportunity to take part in a simulated election organized by the Washington County Election Commission at the Fayetteville Public Library.From registering to using the ExpressVote machines and even receiving “I Voted” stickers, the event gave kids a rare chance to experience the voting process firsthand.“It’s for all voters, for all ages, and even young kids who aren’t able to read yet but can recognize the cover of their favorite book,” said Jennifer Price, Washington County’s director of elections. “They’re able to come in and actually cast a ballot on the same voting equipment their parents use on Election Day.”The event was made possible through a partnership between the county’s Election Commission and the Fayetteville Public Library.
