SALT LAKE CITY – Donations flew off the tables at a kids’ clothing distribution event at North Park Elementary School in Roy. The purpose of the event was to help families who are hurting in this economy.
Families from all over Weber County attended the event. Many people donated and received clothing items for their kids to prepare for back-to-school.
Rebecca Wiser is one of the community members who helped supply the donations. She brought several bags of clothes to help fill the tables, but the donations ran out in just 20 minutes.
“I was shocked. Everything that we brought before is gone,” said Wiser.
An event meant to last all day, instead, lasted less than half an hour. Roy resident Steve Sloane, who also attended the event, says it shows just how much of a need there is.
