Kenosha energy assistance program’s organization has new CEO [Video]

A multi-state non-profit organization, which oversees Kenosha’s energy assistance program, has named a new president and chief executive officer.

Jose Martinez, 59, currently UMOS Interim CEO, was selected by the board of directors to replace Lupe Martinez, no relation, who had led the organization for nearly 50 years. The elder Martinez requested to step back from his duties and became UMOS president emeritus in January.

Jose Martinez will assume his new role Sept. 1 and will be in charge of overseeing UMOS’s program divisions, administrative support services, strategic planning, special events, advocacy and legislative efforts, spokesman Roderick Ritcherson said late Wednesday.

In Kenosha, UMOS is in charge of the Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance program at 925 59th St. The program provides individuals and families with assistance for heating and electric costs, and in energy crisis situations.
