Kansas information exposed in PowerSchool cyberattack [Video]

PowerSchool, a cloud-based software platform used in K-12 schools for students, parents and educators, announced that it has become aware of a data breach that affected some of its clients last month.

Officials said the incident involved unauthorized access to student and teacher information through one of its community-focused customer support portals where someone gained access using compromised credentials.

The information exposed was primarily contact information, such as names and addresses, but the compromised data did not include financial information, social security numbers or photographs

Representatives with PowerSchool said no other products were affected.

Andover Public Schools is one of several that use the PowerSchool system, and they are working to learn more about the breach.
