Kansas City Missouri’s public works director promised changes to trash collection to minimize citizen complaints highlighted recently by KMBC 9 Investigates.Kansas City residents have noticed city garbage trucks leaking liquids onto the streets.Residents have called it “garbage juice.”In recent months, they’ve also noticed city trash crews piling trash bags onto the streets directly from the city’s new trash carts, often to speed up pickup.Crews will return to pick up the bags, but residents say trash is often left behind.Kansas City, Missouri, public works director Michael Shaw told KMBC 9 Investigates on Thursday that changes are coming on both fronts.The total number of complaints about all solid waste issues, Shaw said, is much less than one percent of nearly 17 million waste pickups the city completed last year.He said city trash crews will start carrying inexpensive replacement drain plugs in their trucks.Now, they won’t have to call a supervisor or mechanic …
