KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Kansas City launched the REACH program on November 22.
It currently serves residents in the Prospect Avenue Corridor and will eventually expand to the whole city.
REACH stands for Responding with Empathetic Alternatives and Community Health. It is a sympathetic public health program focused on addressing non-violent crime. The goal is to offer help and support to individuals in accessing necessary resources.

The initiative is to help residents who struggle with substance use, mental health issues and extreme poverty, but the criminal justice system will not be involved.
Instead of treating these scenarios as crimes, it provides people with the help they need for a better life.
REACH can be involved if you, or someone you know, is at risk of arrest, older than 18 and experience extreme poverty, unmet mental health issues or homelessness.
