Kalamazoo Growlers home field underwater after latest torrential downpour [Video]

KALAMAZOO, MI – The home of the Kalamazoo Growlers looks more like a lake than a baseball field currently.

And it happened overnight.

After severe weather dumped torrential rainfall on Southwest Michigan into the early hours of Tuesday, Homer Stryker Field has been left completely submerged and forces the Growlers to postpone their three-game series against the Kokomo Jackrabbits.

“Deepest part is half-way up to my knees, but the entire field is flooded,” said Jaden Taylor, the Growlers’ media relations director.

The flooding came in the early parts of Tuesday morning, as overnight storms unleashed an estimated two to four inches of rain in Southwest Michigan –– specifically along and south of I-94, according to WWMT meteorologists.

The Growlers, who are looking for support in cleanup efforts of the ballpark, said the knee-deep water covers the entire field, concourse, bathrooms, team merchandise shop, concession stands and the rest of the facility, their GoFundMe page says.
