Proactive’s Tylah Tully breaks down ‘Just the Facts’ of Sunstone Metals Ltd (ASX:STM) latest ASX announcement.
It has released significant gold-copper assay results from the Melonal porphyry target at its Bramaderos Project in southern Ecuador. Channel sampling has confirmed notable porphyry mineralisation, including 136.5 metres at 0.31g/t gold and 0.12% copper, and 179 metres at 0.37g/t gold and 0.11% copper, with a section of 75 metres yielding 0.52g/t gold and 0.14% copper.
These results boost the project’s exploration target, which is estimated at 3.3 to 6 million ounces of gold equivalent. The company highlights the potential for large-scale open-pit mining at the Brama-Alba-Melonal complex. Additionally, new porphyry bodies have been identified to the south-east of Melonal, which are now being explored through trenching.
Sunstone describes the Melonal porphyry as an exciting and emerging target with minimal historical exploration, and the latest results suggest the system’s scale is larger than initially anticipated. The company is also exploring partnership opportunities to accelerate further exploration and realise the full potential of its projects.
