Jury selection begins for Karen Read murder trial [Video]

Jury selection continues Wednesday in the murder trial for Karen Read, the Massachusetts woman who is accused in the 2022 death of her Boston police officer boyfriend, John O’Keefe.Four were selected Tuesday from a pool of 88 people. A second pool of 84 people are expected to be questioned during the second day of the process. Ahead of the trial, which has brought contentious debate and protest, the judge has ordered a “buffer zone” around the courthouse. The Supreme Judicial Court upheld the decision, finding that the zone is content-neutral and does not violate the First Amendment. Read, 43, of Mansfield, is accused of hitting John O’Keefe, a Boston police officer, with her vehicle outside of a home in Canton during a snowstorm on Jan. 29, 2022.
