JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Jackson’s police department will soon be implementing new strategies to help keep residents safe and reduce violent crimes, particularly homicides, in the Capital City.
Jackson finished 2024 with the highest homicide rate in the nation for the fourth year in a row, according to a WLBT analysis of major cities across the country, even as the city saw fewer killings last year than the year before.
Right now, the city is off to its best start since 2020 when it comes to homicides, with one thus far in 2025.
