SALT LAKE CITY — Nine people were arrested on Thursday after officers found “counterfeit fentanyl pills, drug paraphernalia, and alcohol being illegally consumed in public.”
Salt Lake City Police Department said in a press release that the arrests happened while police were running a drug interdiction operation.
“The overall objective of this operation was to identify, locate, and arrest drug dealers, traffickers, and buyers along the Jordan River Trail and North Temple Street,” the press release stated.
Police said they ran a similar operation in Oct. 2023 along the same trail and in the communities along the trail with SLCPD Pioneer Patrol Division.
“Recognizing the issues required a multi-disciplinary approach,” the press release said. “SLCPD began coordinating with city, regional, and state agencies to address the community concerns along the Jordan River Trail.”
