Johnson City hosts networking presentation for Latin Heritage Month [Video]

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) – The Johnson City Chamber of Commerce hosted “Breaking Barriers: Latin Networking” on Wednesday as part of its Minority Business Initiative Week for Latin Heritage Month.

While it was a networking opportunity, the main focus was on trauma-informed business culture within the local Latin community.

“We want to inform entrepreneurs, CEO business owners about the mental health crisis that we’re facing as a nation and how their employees may be affected by trauma and how that creates certain issues and challenges within the workplace,” Alfonso Gilbert, Men of Valor Prison Ministry director of counseling, said.

The presentation highlighted the ten most common traumas children and teenagers most likely experience.
