John Marshall High School unveils new mural | News [Video]

ROCHESTER, Minn.-John Marshall High School began hanging up a 2,000 square foot mural that has been over a year in the making on Thursday, Sept. 26.

The mural, which was a collaboration between the high school’s community and the artists at Goodspace Murals, had over 1,000 community members involved in its design and creation.

According to Erin Vasquez, one of the lead organizers on the project, the artwork was completely funded by community donations from Rochester business leaders and non-profits like the Mayo Clinic, United Way of Olmsted County and Knutson Construction.

Vasquez says the reason for the mural was threefold to create a sense of belonging for students, to reflect what the school is on the inside on the outside and to encourage more parents, alumni and other community members to become more engaged in the school community.
