Jimmy Carter’s motorcade route announced, includes stops across Central Georgia [Video]

MACON, Ga. — The route for former president Jimmy Carter’s motorcade procession on Jan. 4 has been announced, according to a press release from the Joint Task Force for the National Capital Region.

They say the motorcade will start at the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, before turning right on Highway 280 and heading to Jimmy Carter’s boyhood farm. 

The motorcade will leave the Plains area around 11:00 a.m., according to the release. The Georgia Department of Transportation says it will then travel through Butler and Reynolds in Taylor County, and then through Fort Valley in Peach County.

Public viewing opportunities will be available in Fort Valley.

The motorcade will then get on I-75 in Byron, according to a post from GDOT’s 511 website. From there, it will head up I-475 into Bibb County, and head up I-75 into Monroe County on the way to Atlanta.
