The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating after an inmate died in custody Thursday. Sheriff Joseph Lopinto said that the inmate, an 82-year-old man, died after a long hospital stay. Lopinto does not believe foul play is suspected. The sheriff did not release the inmate’s name or why the inmate was in custody.
