JACKSONVILLE, Ore. — The small-town support system of Ruch continues to show that a united community is what keeps them positive during the Applegate Fire.

Dora Howard, owner of Ruch Hardware, said she is “amazed” by how the community has come together.

“I always knew we were a tight-knit community, but these last few days really proved that,” she said.

She also mentioned how a local church youth group made sandwiches for the firefighters on scene over the weekend.

“You know they are our next generation, and to know that they have hearts to serve, you can’t get any better than that,” she said. 

She also mentioned how locals were offering up their homes, fields, and trailers for those who decided to evacuate.
