TYLER, Texas (KETK) — Researchers with the University of Texas at Tyler are submitting their bid for Tyler to be named as a Texas Veteran-Friendly community.
The designation is given to cities in Texas that go above and beyond in their commitment to support the nation’s veteran and highlights the efforts made for veterans and their families.
Dr. Marilyn Young, a Hibbs Faculty Research Fellow and Professor of Management, said the Tyler Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) has supported veterans over the years including many initiatives “where the community has gone above and beyond to honor our veterans.”

Economist Ray Perryman said there is a promising economic forecast due to the city’s resilience and diversity and expects the area’s employment to increase by nearly 2%, or 11,900 jobs by 2027.
