THE Irish government is plotting a bid to host The Open and AIG Women’s Open.
Plans are afoot for discussions with the R&A and Portmarnock Golf Club over the summer to hold the events at the Dublin course.
Subject to those talks and a positive economic impact assessment, the government expect a recommendation in the autumn.
The Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media will proceed to active engagement with The R&A and Portmarnock Golf Club in this regard.
