The Invictus Project is helping local law enforcement fight cyber crimes against kids — one tip at a time. In 2024, there were more than 28,000 tips on child sexual abuse cyber crimes reported across North Carolina. That number was up from nearly 12,000 tips back in 2021. Sheriff’s office investigators with the Invictus Task Force in Randolph, Davidson, Alamance and Forsyth counties are working proactively to make sure every child is safe. “The cell phone has replaced the creepy white van,” said Ray Dawson, the founder of the Invictus Project. “Kids aren’t congregating on playgrounds like they used to.
