MOREHOUSE PARISH, La. (KNOE) – An officer-involved shooting in Morehouse Parish is being investigated.
According to the Northeast Louisiana Sheriff’s Investigative Unit (NELA SIU), on Nov. 23 at around 8:50 p.m. a Morehouse Parish deputy conducted a traffic stop on Carbon Plant Road when a male passenger, armed with a handgun got out of the vehicle and ran away.
A preliminary investigation indicated that the deputy shot the suspect. The suspect was then taken to Morehouse General Hospital where he later died from his injuries.
NELA SIU was notified and a team of investigators from surrounding agencies took over the investigation.
A woman who said she was driving vehicle at the traffic stop, Tiffani Davis, said she saw the suspect die at the scene.
Davis said the suspect was 22-year-old Marquez Crowder, and the incident happened when they were going to a store to buy snacks after her child’s birthday …
