Authorities continue to investigate, but believe this was a murder-suicide.
DAKOTA COUNTY, Minn. — Authorities are investigating after two people were found dead from apparent gunshot wounds in a Dakota County.
The two were found this past Sunday in a farm field near 210th Street East and Clayton Avenue in Empire, the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.
According to officials, the son was concerned when his father and step mother had gone to their leased farm plot but did not come home to Oakdale.
The Dakota County Sheriff’s Office believe the man, identified as 65-year-old Smith Coop Brown, killed his spouse, 27-year-old Payao Vang, before taking his own life. Two handguns were found, one in Brown’s hand and another in his jacket pocket, officials said. The investigation is ongoing.
