International Black Theatre Festival kicks off with gala [Video]

Stars from all across the world are gathering in the Piedmont Triad this week.There is so much amazing talent throughout the area as the International Black Theatre Festival is underway.The gala kicked things off at the Benton Convention Center Monday night, where theatre greats were honored throughout the evening. “This is amazing to be here with this many great heroes and legends in theatre,” said Comedian Michael Colyar. “It’s just a blessing and honor to be here.”The week will go on to feature more than 100 performances in venues all across Winston-Salem. “This is only my second time here,” said the event’s co-chair, Tamara Tunie. “I was here earlier in May for the press announcement and was in and out in a day — so I’m planning to dine at some really good restaurants and see as many of the shows as I possibly can.”More than 60,000 people are expected …
