It’s a growing marketplace for buyers and sellers across Arizona.
13 news looked into the underground world of secondhand medical supplies.
An estimated 30 million Americans have either type 1 or type 2 diabetes.
In general, it’s legal to resell unused test strips for blood glucose – and many patients do.
But a Tucson woman whose father had complications from diabetes has concerns about it.
Across Tucson, handmade signs that read “cash for test strips” are popping up at intersections.
Tucson resident Tanja Foiles says, “It shocked me, I was surprised. And just felt people were going to be taken advantage of.
Foiles is a health care professional. She’s worried buyers are posting signs in low income areas – targeting diabetics in need of quick cash.
