Phyllis Whitley has been working for the Milwaukee Election Commission for 36 years. Whitley says there is a lot of planning that takes place to ensure the voting process goes as smoothly as possible. “It takes a lot of planning due to the number of voting sites that we have,” Whitley said. Whitley has prepared for several presidential elections. She considers the turnout for this election to be similar to when former President Barack Obama ran in 2008.Whitley was one of the election workers people could meet at Saturday’s event to see how the voting process works in Milwaukee. “My whole purpose to be here is just to really see how it all really works,” said Doug Kwikkel, who visited the voting machines.
