KROGER shoppers raged over the grocery chain’s eerie security measures, including facial recognition.
The uproar comes after the supermarket giant recently came under fire for “price surging.”
In February of this year, Kroger partnered with Intelligence Node to introduce “unparalleled digital shelf optimization.”
The grocery retail giant has previously partnered with EDGE (Enhanced Display for Grocery Environment) in 2015 to predict demand.
As of 2024, there are over 500 digital shelves nationwide.
The EDGE technology and the Intelligence Node partnership have worried shoppers about their privacy.
“Wow, it keeps getting better, doesn’t it?!?” exclaimed Kroger shopper Sylvia Young on Facebook.
Young included pictures from an article by New York The Sun that suggested Kroger customers are experiencing high charges based on their data being collected using AI.
