JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – The first-ever Oktoberfest took place at the Jackson Zoo Saturday, which showed some of that progress made at the zoo over the last few years.
”I would like everyone to know that the zoo is here to stay, and we’re hiring, and we need our community as a backbone to keep our zoo alive,” Jackson Zoo Coordinator Sheka Epps said.
The family-friendly event aimed to bring the community together for a day of entertainment, food, and fun for all ages.
The event started with musical acts from a variety of genres from musicians throughout the city.
It also had many local vendors and food trucks, giving small businesses their chance to network and bring in new customers.
Magnolia Grill’s Owner Martin Rice believes these events are needed, not just for small businesses, but for the zoo as well.
