Illinois attorney general blasts GOP senators attempt to link New Orleans terror attack to FBI diversity efforts [Video]

CHICAGO (25News Now) – Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul is condemning as “racist” a U.S. Republican senator’s charge that the FBI’s efforts to increase diversity among its agents endangered public safety and made the Jan. 1 deadly terrorist attack in New Orleans inevitable consequence.

On social media last week, U.S. Sen. Marcia Blackburn (R-Tenn) said that under the leadership of outgoing FBI Director Christopher Wray, the agency prioritized diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives over the FBI’s core mission of protecting Americans.

Raoul, a Democrat, released contents of Blackburn’s letter to Wray in addition to a statement in which he said the senator’s claims were racist, disgusting, and without merit.
