As freezing temperatures and possible snow approach southeast Louisiana, transportation officials are preparing for dangerous driving conditions, particularly on bridges and overpasses that freeze first. Crews from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), the Causeway Commission, and St. Tammany Parish are working around the clock to keep roads safe.DOTD will begin salting major highways Sunday night, including U.S. 190, U.S. 11, I-10, the Twin Span, the Highrise, and the Highway 11 bridge.“Crews are going to be starting on Sunday night, so they’re going to be out on our major thoroughfares,” said DOTD spokesperson Daniel Gitlin.Meanwhile, the Causeway Commission is implementing additional safety measures.
