Hurricane Helene relief still needed [Video]

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) — It’s been more than a month since Hurricane Helene made landfall, devastating parts of the country.

Organizations like West Virginia American Water say communities in North Carolina have different needs now and are asking communities for help.

Anthony Treadway, who is with West Virginia American Water, says he has helped make supply deliveries to the south and saw firsthand the damage left behind by Helene.

“The big appeal that I really wanted to make today was the need for metal storage containers, conex buildings. It’s kind of like shipping containers,” Treadway said.

Now he is keeping in contact with those in North Carolina and listening to their changing needs.

“Those metal containers are important because we know that people are going to need things for a long long time,” said Mayor Brenda Lyerly of Banner Elk. “So we don’t want to stop the flow of merchandise and …
